Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has praised Kenyan second lady Pastor Dorcas Rigathi describing her as a "firebrand".

Speaking during the launch of the Jesus’ Africa book authored by Museveni's daughter, Patience Rwabwogo, the head of state described Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's wife as a firebrand and a powerful cadre.

Yoweri Museveni, the seasoned leader of Uganda, also declared that on Monday, following his recovery from the Covid-19 virus, he had resumed his regular responsibilities.

Museveni praised her for her commitment to her profession and that he would exploit her administrative abilities.

He remembered meeting her at President William Ruto's inauguration on September 13, 2022, and was astounded by her vibrancy.

The 78-year-old, who has ruled Uganda with an iron fist for decades, had announced on June 8 that he had tested positive for Covid, triggering speculation about his state of health.

He spoke on Friday during the launch of the book Jesus' Africa in State House.

Museveni added that he would emulate her skill while managing Uganda, despite being at the helm for over 37 years

"I am very happy to see Pastor Rigathi, I didn't know we have a firebrand in Kenya," he said.

Museveni last week pulled out of a high-level trip by African delegates to Ukraine and Russia to try to broker an end to the conflict, but he did address Uganda's parliament remotely during the presentation of the country's budget.

"When we were swearing in the new government, I was there but she didn't speak of course, but now I'm really surprised to see a very powerful cadre here, I will take advantage of your pastoring skills."
