Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi had recently stated that the country is unlikely to resolve the current economic crisis in the short time frame envisaged by the Kenya Kwanza administration when it took power.

Mudavadi advised Kenyans to tighten their belts in readiness for tough times ahead, speaking on Friday at the start of an entrepreneurship conference hosted at ACK St. Marks church in Westlands. He said the current administration may take two and a half years to rebuild the economy.

He said that kenya is in difficult times, but kenyans should not be fooled into thinking they can get out of the financial woes in six months. Adding that it will take them two years to recover.

Mudavadi stated that the government would seek to create jobs for the youth in the coming days to help them cope with the difficult economic circumstances after Parliament passed the contentious Finance Bill, 2023.

He said that the government continues prioritizing job creation through enterprise to increase people's purchasing power to deal with the high cost of living.

During an earlier event, the prime cabinet secretary asked kenyans to give them time to revamp the economy.

"It will be difficult to get our country back on track." I've said, and I'll say again, that restoring Kenya's economy isn't like making instant coffee in the morning. The revival of Kenya's economy will take time but require our unity." said Musalia

The Prime Cabinet Secretary also slammed previous President Uhuru Kenyatta's government for wreaking havoc on the economy by overborrowing to pay off past debts, thus putting the country into debt repayment difficulty.

"We did not appear out of nowhere. We got into this mess because the previous administration borrowed foolishly and saddled Kenyans with the bill. "I said that overborrowing would put us in a hole, and I was ignored," Mudavadi claimed.

He also asked the opposition, led by Raila Odinga, to give the government time to implement its platform and refrain from criticizing for the sake of criticizing.
