Funds have been allotted to the Nairobi County government under Governor Johnson Sakaja to purchase a roadshow truck.

This was made known on Thursday at the presentation of the 10th report on reviewing revenue and spending estimates by the County Finance, Budget, and Appropriations Committee.

A customized roadshow truck was purchased for Sh26 million by the committee, which Mabatini MCA Wilfred Oluoch Odalo led. The committee also informed the House that Sh136 million had been withdrawn from the school food program and redistributed to other programs.

According to Mr Oluoch, who read the report, the county will use the vehicle to interact with citizens at public participation activities.

The County Executive Committee member Ms Susan Silantoi oversees the Inclusivity, Public Participation and Customer Service desk, which fosters positive ties between the Governor's office and Nairobi people.

Everyone is waiting to see how the county will get the truck worth the sum allotted.

Our attempts to contact the office of the CEC in charge to learn more about how the county intends to use the allotted funds were unsuccessful because no one picked up the phone.

The Governor introduced the first Nairobi Festival in December last year, attracting thousands of visitors while showcasing the county's diverse abilities.

The County Assembly has given the Nairobi Battle of Choirs Sh20 million for the second event, which the Governor assured would be substantially larger.

Aiming to promote choral music and give local choirs a stage to display their talent, the Nairobi Battle of Choirs is an annual festival featuring the top choirs from Nairobi County.
