Senator Cherargei has cautioned that if opposition leader Raila Odinga engages in unlawful demonstrations against President William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza government following their victory in the August general elections, there is a risk of his arrest. The senator emphasized that it is the responsibility of the current government to safeguard the lives and property of individuals, even as those opposing the government voice their concerns.
Raila Odinga, has received a warning that he could face arrest if any unrest erupted during his planned Maandamano (protests) against the Kenya Kwanza administration. The protests were in response to the passing of the Finance Bill of 2023 by the national assembly, a decision strongly opposed by the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition, which Raila Odinga leads.
