In some parts of the highway, protesters resorted to lighting tires forcing vehicles to look for alternative routes.

Azimio la Umoja leaders had called on their supporters to join them in the rally of their lives today at the kamukunji grounds. The opposition calls for the government to address the high cost of living.
Addressing the media at Nairobi's Kamukunji Grounds, where Opposition leader Raila Odinga would organize the significant rally, Azimio leaders asked their followers to arrive as early as 4.30 a.m.
"You are all aware that Saba Saba is a momentous occasion. So, starting tomorrow, we will begin writing a new chapter in the history of this venue, led by Raila Odinga. We invite all Kenyans from all walks of life to arrive as early as 4.30 a.m... "We will conduct a very peaceful meeting," Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok remarked.
