As Saba Saba protests, organized by the Opposition, continue to gather momentum nationwide, bonfires have been ignited in several towns, including Homa Bay and Kisumu. In certain areas of Nairobi city, protestors were gathered near the former Hilton Hotel, demanding that the government take action to alleviate the high cost of living.
Several individuals have been apprehended in relation to these incidents. In Kisumu, road blockades and the ignition of fires occurred as residents responded to the call for protest by Azimio leader Raila Odinga. Police personnel are presently on standby in various locations across the city. Similarly, in Mombasa, activists and residents took to the streets in the early hours to express their discontent with the soaring cost of living.

Police were, however, forced to lob teargas canisters to disperse the activists holding demonstrations in Mombasa. The activists had on Friday morning carried colourful placards as they chanted, 'We go! We go!' before they were dispersed by the police.
Earlier on Friday, reports said that a section of youths in Mathare had blocked the Thika Superhighway and were stoning vehicles.
Videos circulating on Twitter showed multiple vehicles making U-turns. Police, however, arrived on time and dispersed the youth.
The government has beefed up security across the country, and counties are believed to be violent hotspots.
At a rally planned for the Kamukunji Grounds, Raila Odinga is anticipated to start gathering signatures and maybe usher in the second round of anti-government demonstrations.
The protests will also be started by his fellow Azimio principals in other regions of the nation. This is a component of the Opposition's plan to get its backers to acknowledge the grassroots Opposition and step up their pressure on President William Ruto's administration.
