Mishi Mboko, a member of parliament for Likoni, stated that despite being dispersed by police officers who fired tear gas at them, the Saba Saba rallies would still go on.

She voiced her displeasure with the government's placement of security personnel nationwide during nonviolent protests.

This comes after the police used tear gas on Friday to disperse Mombasa demonstrators who were celebrating Saba Saba Day.

"I am surprised by this Kenya Kwanza government, how can they deploy so many police officers during peaceful demonstrations yet there are so many cases of insecurity in the country," she remarked.


"Continue, Aluta! No retreat, no capitulation.

The MP asserted that Kenyans had a right to peaceful protests to express their discontent with the government.

She claimed it was illegal for the police to stop the protesters' peaceful demonstration.

"Kenyans have chosen to express their disagreement with the issue of the high expense of living. They have the right to protest in the streets, according to Mboko peacefully.


In Mombasa, the commotion started around 9.30 am.

Rashid Bedzimba (Kisauni), Badi Twalib (Jomvu), Machele Masoud (Mvita), Mishi Mboko (MP for Likoni), and ZamZam Mohammed (Representative for Mombasa Woman) were among the lawmakers who participated in the demonstrations.
