A Kenyan housekeeper filed a lawsuit against her former employers, American citizens, seeking Ksh80 million in damages for the horrific injuries she suffered when the couple's dogs attacked her.

The house help claimed in a court document obtained by Waza.co.ke that her employers did not ensure her safety on April 28, 2021, while she was taking their son to a neighbour's house to play.

According to the court complaint, the housekeeper was injured after being attacked while assisting the son, who two English Bulldogs had knocked over.

"The plaintiff alleges that the defendants violated her constitutionally protected rights to dignity and protection from physical and mental torment via negligence. When the plaintiff and (the son) entered the premises, the defendants owed a duty of care to ensure their safety, the homeowner said in an affidavit.

The woman added that the couple had promised to pay her hospital bills following the incident, totalling Ksh1.29 million. Still, she had only paid Ksh1.06 million through the assistance of Anjarwalla and Khanna.

"Your clear breach of duty of care caused our Client serious harm due to your failure to maintain a safe workplace. The statement claimed, "Our Client acknowledges and appreciates your partial payment for her physical and emotional medical treatment to date."

She continues to experience the trauma daily, but the injury she has endured due to your carelessness has compromised her capacity to live everyday and valuable life.

The household asks for 80 million shillings (Ksh) in damages and future medical costs.
