Miguna Miguna, a city lawyer and politician, has filed for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) position.

Miguna tweeted on Monday night that he had formally indicated an interest in succeeding Haji, writing, "For the avoidance of any doubt, YES, I have applied for the position of The Director of Public Prosecutions."

Currently, the panel for selecting nominees to succeed Haji has been established.

The seven-member committee, which includes COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) CEO Twalib Mbarak, and Solicitor General Shadrack Mose, was formed on June 27.

Public Service Principal Secretary Mary Kimonye, Mary Adhiambo Maumga, Roseline Odede, and Richard Onsongo Bush Obwocha are others.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) advertised the DPP position on June 29, requesting applicants to have at least ten years of experience as a superior court judge or professionally qualified magistrate.

On May 16, President William Ruto appointed Noordin Haji as the next Director-General of the National Intelligence Service (NIS).

Haji was sworn in on June 14 after being vetted and authorized by Parliament's Defence and Foreign Relations Committee.

Danstan Omari is also among those who have openly indicated an interest in the position of DPP.
