On Wednesday, MCAs in Kericho left a ceremony where President William Ruto was scheduled to commission the Duka Moja and Kimugu water treatment facilities.

The MCAs claimed that the president's handlers and security ordered them to leave the project's boundaries because they posed a "security threat" to the Head of State.

Ruto had not yet arrived at the location when the incident took place.

One of the MCAs remarked, "We were warned that we are a security threat…we move outside, and so that's why we are moving out to give them space.

The Ksh. President Ruto will officially open the 1.2 billion Water Project, which includes a 50km pipeline and will provide clean piped water to more than 200,000 families in the Ainamoi, Belgut, and Kipkelion East constituencies.

The massive project, which was built through a partnership between the national and county governments, will supply 13 million litres of water each day, according to Kericho governor Eric Mutai.

According to Mutai, the project, which started seven years ago with finance from KFW bank, would help increase Kericho town's water supply and enhance the current Kapcheptoror Water Project, which provides water to the town and its surroundings.
