Kisii county governor Simba Arati has stated that he is determined to collaborate with President William Ruto's administration to bring development to the county.

Arati advocated tolerance among leaders across the political divide on Sunday during an interdenominational prayer session attended by Ruto at Nyanturago Stadium, saying Kenya relies on their harmony to thrive.

"Lazima mimi kma gavana niletee watu wangu maendeleo," he explained.

“Siasa lazima iwe na adabu kidogo. Mimi kama mwana ODM na yule wa UDA lazima tusimamie mambo yale, sio fitina or quarrelling, it’s about complimenting each other in managing this country.”

He has urged talks between the president and opposition leader Raila Odinga to end the stalemate that has seen the latter call for anti-government protests that have resulted in the deaths of over 20 people.

However, the governor denied assertions by some Kenya Kwanza officials that Odinga is seeking a coalition government deal with Ruto.

At the same time, the Kisii County leader presented President Ruto with a list of projects that his people want from the national government, including a state-of-the-art repair of the Nyanturago Stadium and market stalls in Kisii town.

The governor also advocated building an airfield, claiming that land for one was readily accessible in Nyangusu.
