Member of Parliament for Chuka Igambang'omben Patrick Munene predicts that more Azimio la Umoja coalition leaders will be arrested on corruption allegations.

All leaders who were part of Azimio throughout President Uhuru Kenyatta's era, according to MP Munene, will now be held accountable for the shady deals they engaged in while in their respective offices.

On a Citizen TV Show on Thursday, he argued that arresting the leaders was impossible since they had complete immunity from the government.

"The majority of the leaders who will be arrested in the next year will not be by chance from Azimio's side," he predicted.

"What happened when Azimio was formed and it made government and Uhuru Kenyatta was made their leader they ran a rampage because they were immune then. Those of us who were in Tangatanga could not have even attempted corruption because even a shilling in your M-Pesa was followed." he added.

Patrick Munene said this as he commented on the arrest of former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya in connection with the alleged misappropriation of Ksh. 1.3 billion during his two-term stint as Kakamega County Governor.

The former governor of Kakamega County was questioned by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives, who were also accused of benefitting from the alleged scheme.

EACC Deputy CEO Abdi Mohamud stated that Oparanya's investigation is one of many high-impact investigations into the misappropriation of public funds that the Commission is conducting in other County Governments and that the operations are at various levels.

MP Munene denied that the situation was being politicized, claiming that justice was just being delivered.
