Siaya County has received two new municipalities following the swearing in of the boards of management for Bondo and Ugunja towns.

Siaya Governor James Orengo said global demographic statistics currently indicate that more people were moving towards urbanization, hence the need to move with the trend.

Speaking during the swearing in ceremony in Siaya Town,Orengo said that the earlier Kenyans realize that urbanization has caught up with us, the better.

Further, he said that the third world was currently caught up in a situation where it is struggling to catch up with the demands for development.

He challenged the members of the Ugunja and Bondo municipal boards to ensure that the public get the best services and that the towns were well planned.

“In our planning, we must ensure that we plan in order to ensure that our people live in habitable and good environment where there is security, good infrastructure and amenities that we need in our daily lives” Orengo said.

Orengo said that his administration is committed to bring change in the county and called on the local residents to support his government realize the dream.

“This will come about if we invest our resources in areas that matter” he said adding that agriculture and the Blue Economy form the key pillars of transformation and growth of Siaya County.
