A 71-year-old man from Karungu, Migori County, has shocked residents after returning to the village 52 years after going missing.
According to village elder Mike Oketch, the man, who has been identified as Joshua Ayata Odero, left the village over half a century ago without telling anyone where he was going and had never made contact with his family.
While speaking to Citizen Digital, 71-year-old odero said that his family was overwhelmed with happiness on his return because they were worried about him and promised to help him settle down and rebuild his life in the village. He turned to the village on a motorcycle.
Odero said he is relieved to have returned home after spending several decades in Tanzania. He stated that he moved to a foreign country to look for work and stayed in the Mwanza area with his family.

He also revealed that he intends to relocate the family to Kenya from Tanzania in the near future so that he can reconnect with family members he has not seen in many years.
