According to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, the explosion outside Turkey's interior ministry in the capital, Ankara, has been confirmed as a "terrorist attack". At approximately 09:30 (06:30 GMT), two attackers arrived in a commercial vehicle and carried out the assault, leading to injuries sustained by two officers.
Mr. Yerlikaya stated that one attacker detonated an explosive device in front of a ministry building, while another was "neutralized."
The explosion occurred shortly before parliament was scheduled to reconvene.
The identities of the attackers remain unclear, and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Initial media accounts of the explosion also mentioned reports of gunfire in the vicinity. Emergency services swiftly responded, with law enforcement securing various nearby roads.
