Outspoken politician from Mt Kenya, Francis Ng'ang'a Gaitho, has responded to criticism directed at him for his attack on popular Kikuyu musician Samuel Muchoki, known as Samidoh.

Gaitho, who vied for the Thika Town MP seat in 2022  faced backlash after he called for a boycott of companies that sponsored the launch of the Samidoh Foundation on Thursday night.

The Mugithi maestro unveiled his initiative at Parklands Sports Club in a vibrant event endorsed by over 30 corporates and attended by dignitaries, including Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports, and the Arts Ababu Namwamba, among others.

In a post on a certain platform, Gaitho labeled Samidoh as a talentless artist who gained popularity through alleged "bribes" to Kikuyu vernacular media stations and the drama surrounding his estranged wife, Edday Nderitu, and Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu.

However, these remarks did not sit well with a segment of Samidoh's fans, who rebuked Gaitho, suggesting that his comments stemmed from jealousy towards the musician's growing fame and success.

"Hapa napo, I strongly disagree with Francis Gaitho. Samidoh, a Kikuyu Vernacular musician, has built a noteworthy brand, making many proud. He's a talented entertainer with incredible music. Despite family setbacks and a tough breakup, he remains a champ worth celebrating. In contrast, Francis Gaitho is a lazy noise maker hiding abroad. What has he contributed to society beyond complaining online? It's time for him to focus on personal growth and self-improvement. Hongera Samidoh!" Martoh Muriithi posted on Facebook.


"You have been wondering how night runners look like. Read the bile in this man and get the picture. On one hand he doesn’t know any of Samidoh song on the other one he know how talentless he is," blogger Ngugi Isaac added.

In a post on X on Saturday, Gaitho told off his critics saying they are "village-minded" and that is why they were trolling him on Facebook.

The politician asserted that he deserved respect because he sustains himself, unlike their idol Samidoh, whom he alleged is supported by his baby mamas.
