At a Sunday meeting with some of his constituents, South Mugirango MP and National Assembly majority Whip Silvanus Osoro disclosed the events leading up to his altercation with Governor Simba Arati.

In an attempt to defend himself from criticism regarding the altercation that broke out when he and his group stormed a function that Arati was hosting, Osoro claimed that the governor's side had provoked his group.

Trouble started when Arati was in South Mugirango, awarding bursaries. As Arati gave a speech, a group of young people accompanied by police stormed the meeting. This sparked a fight that resulted in gunshots and forced the residents to run for their lives.

Four people were shot at least once. Subsequently, Arati stated that he was the target of an attempt on his life, but God delivered him.

The Gusii community and the ODM party, of which Arati is a leader, strongly condemned the altercation and demanded that Osoro be taken into custody and charged.

CS Education To resolve the issues, Ezekiel Machogu and other regional leaders have requested a consultative meeting; however, Governor Arati has stated he will not attend.

While he's at it, Osoro claims that the altercation started because Governor Arati and his group provoked him.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Osoro speaks to a large group of his constituents in a hall. He claims that while he was at another event in the area, Arati's men stole microphones and other public address equipment from his car, damaged it, and hurt one of his drivers.

This incident triggered his team, and they immediately matched Arati's location, leading to a fight.

He played a video clip recorded during the incident on his phone to explain why his people had stormed Arati's meeting and how the altercation had begun.

Leaders who have advocated for a ceasefire between the two parties include Senator Richard Onyonka of Kisii, who has praised CS Machogu's request for negotiations.

Meanwhile, Arati's allied MCAs have called for protests in the Bobasi sub-county, where Arati is from, to demand Osoro's arrest and arraignment.

The MCAs said Osoro should face the same consequences as Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, who was arrested for slapping another MCA. They cited that incident.
