Former governors Wycliffe Oparanya and Ali Hassan Joho are currently engaged in a looming battle over the control of the ODM party. The two are seeking to inherit the party in the event that Raila Odinga wins the OAU chairmanship seat and moves to Addis Ababa. The seat prevents the office holder from partaking in local politics and so that may see Raila's activities locally limited. It all however depends on whether he wins or not. Yesterday in a recruitment drive in Wajir, Joho laid bare his intentions to succeed Raila as party leader and added that he was only answerable to Raila Odinga who had been aware of all his moves.
The area governor while speaking said that he would not sit back and watch both Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya destroy the party. That they should both sit under the leadership of Raila Odinga. He added that everyone has to play under the confines of party law's. He however leaned towards Hassan Joho 's side and rallied behind him to take over from Raila.
Within the ODM party, Wycliffe Oparanya, a former two-term governor of Kakamega, is a prominent figure. On the other end, Hassan Joho has taken an active position in the country's political system.
Joho held the governorship of Mombasa County, widely recognized as county 001, for two consecutive terms. Before taking on the position of governor, he demonstrated a diverse and impactful political career by serving as the Member of Parliament for the Kisauni constituency. It's important to acknowledge that there may have been subsequent developments in his career or changes in the political scenario since my last knowledge update.
This two figures are in a battle of inheriting ODM leader Raila Odinga's seat incase he wins the AU seat. Who do you think might win this battle.
