Husband of impeached Governor Kawira Mwangaza has strongly defended his wife, urging President William Ruto to reconsider his position on her controversial impeachment amid the ongoing political unrest in Meru County.

Murega Baichu, a musician by profession, expressed his disappointment, alleging that both local politicians and the president betrayed Mwangaza.

The controversy erupted after the Senate upheld Mwangaza’s impeachment, a decision that has left many Meru residents in shock and dismay.

Baichu, in a heartfelt video shared on his social media platforms, questioned why President Ruto had chosen to listen to the accusations from Meru's MPs and MCAs rather than give ear to the people of Meru, who, according to him, still supported Mwangaza.

He accused the local leaders of misleading the president, claiming that they had personal issues with his wife but were using their influence to sabotage her leadership.

Baichu’s frustration was evident as he pleaded for justice, pointing out that Mwangaza had done nothing wrong to warrant such treatment.

"You have been lied to by the MCAs and MPs who have been fighting with mama (Mwangaza) for no reason," Baichu said in his video.

He further questioned the motives of the politicians, wondering why they would go as far as accusing Mwangaza of failing when she had not interfered with their agendas.

Despite the ongoing political turmoil, Baichu stressed that he and his wife still respected President Ruto.

He reaffirmed their unwavering faith in God, stating, "Mungu tu ndiye mkubwa wetu, sisi hatuna kwengine kwa kukimbilia," meaning that only God is their ultimate refuge.

Baichu's plea has ignited mixed reactions on social media, with some criticizing him for speaking on his wife's behalf, while others have shown sympathy for their situation.
