Abdi Guliye, the retired IEBC commissioner , on January 23, 2023, appeared before Muchelule tribunal. During the interrogation, Guliye revealed that as soon as William Ruto was named the winner, he immediately rushed into hiding. According to Guliye if they didn't recognize Raila as president, the National Security Advisory Council threatened them with death and attempted murder.

Although Abdi Guliye made it known that his life was at risk, he also came to the conclusion that he didn't have to continue to live in dread. He asserted that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)  must continue to function independently as required in the future.

Guliye made it quite obvious that after the highest team in charge of the nation attempted to step in, their lives were at risk. He called for investigations to  continue to make sure that those who committed treason by attempting to regulate outcomes are brought to justice.

Guliye further added that certain individuals who wished to end his life will now have to face the consequences.

IEBC commissioner Prof. Abdi Guliye earlier,  through a statement, said he was proud to leave IEBC better than he found it and categorically pointed out he had no apologies to make to anyone.

“I leave IEBC better than I found it and I have no apologies to make to anyone. To those who will replace us, the IEBC office as chair or commissioners is not for the faint-hearted, please choose commissioners wisely,” said Guliye.

He also added that the work of IEBC commissioners is not for the faint-hearted and urged those who will have the responsibility of replacing them to choose commissioners wisely.
