The azimio leader proclaimed his support for the former interior secretary general fred matiangi, saying that the tribulations he is facing are a political witch hunt by the kenya kwanza regime.

Raila accused the DCI officers of failing to follow the rule of the law that had denied them permission to search matiangis house, adding that the state had decided to disrespect matiangi, who at one time was one of the senior-most officials in the country.

Raila went on to say that the current political climate in the country reminded him of the days when he was tortured and persecuted for fighting for democracy. How can matiangi be a criminal when he was once in charge of the country's internal security?

On Tuesday afternoon, the courts refused to give the DCI permission to obtain the CCTV footage from the former interior cs house, only for the order to change a few hours later, granting the officers access to the matiangi's home.

The genesis of these events was last week when the former interior cs claimed that special police raided his house. Several political leaders aligned with the opposition were present at his Karen residence condemning the attack. But have the chicks come home to roost for Matiang'i?

The current interior cs kithure kindiki denied that an earlier raid happened at matiangis home, a statement that the DCI boss backed. They had asked for footage of the incident.

Matiangis lawyer Omari has condemned the raid saying the state is trying to settle political scores
