On March 23, opposition leader Raila Odinga accused deputy president Rigathi Gachagua of convening a secret conference at his home in Karen with the intention of stifling protests.


In a news conference, Raila asserted that the meeting was attended by the majority leader of the National Assembly, Kimani Ichung'wah, and the member of Parliament for Kiharu, Ndindi Nyoro.


Raila claims that Gachagua invited several youths to the meeting and instructed them to act as counter-demonstrators during the upcoming Monday protests.


The former prime minister stated that they have very authentic information that on Tuesday evening, Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua convened a meeting at his residence in Karen. In attendance were Kimani Ichungwah and Ndindi Nyoro, and youths from different parts of the country were invited.

According to Raila, the meeting was a strategy session to plan to counter Monday demonstrations. He explained that according to their information, the plan was to give youths uniforms similar to those of the MDD, Azimio's movement. The youths are meant to mix with our youths and accompany them throughout the demonstrations.



According to Raila, the youth were instructed to kill over 1000 people during the protests to justify the trial of the Azimio members of Parliament before the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The head of the Azimio movement insisted that the protests would be peaceful and that the vice president's attempts to create a commotion would fail.


Raila concluded by saying they strongly condemn the strongest terms criminal plan to try to shed blood in the country.
