President William Ruto has urged Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition, to cancel the scheduled demonstrations for Monday and instead back his development agenda.
President Ruto recalled his friendship with the opposition leader when they were both members of the same party and urged the people of Nyanza not to be afraid to work with his government.
Speaking in migori during his three-day tour to the south Nyanza region, the head of state launched several projects there. He commissioned several roads, such as the Senta-Nyamtiro-Isebania road in the Kuria East constituency and Nyabohanse - Kumumwamu road in the Kuria West constituency.
“Bwana Agwambo nimekusaidia wewe tukiwa ODM...nimekupigia kura...wewe sasa ndio miaka inaenda badala ya kunipangia maandamano pia wewe nipigie kura mara moja tu 2027,” ruto said.

The head of state revived the memories, claiming he sacrificed for Mr Odinga and was brought to the International Criminal Court (ICC) following the 2007-2008 contested election.
“Mimi nilipigania mpaka Agwambo akakuwa Prime Minister...nilipelekwa mpaka Hague kwa sababu ya kutetea yeye...sasa ile ananipatia ni maandamano...na ni mimi nimejaribu nimefanya hii Mungu akanisaidia sahii mimi ni rais,” he stated.
President Ruto urged leaders from Mr Odinga's constituency to be bold and collaborate with his government. He stated that his goal is to see development in all parts of the nation.
Several leaders in the large Nyanza region have declared that they will work with president ruto to improve the lives of those in their communities. Other leaders have asked members of their constituencies to shy away from the planned demonstrations.
