Saitabao Ole Kanchory, the chief representative of Raila Odinga for the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition in the 2022 General Election, recently spoke out about what he calls disarray and internal disputes in Odinga's campaign apparatus, which he claims caused him to lose his candidacy for the State House.

His new book titled Why Baba is Not The Fifth was published on Wednesday. Kanchory refers to Azimio's August 9 polls that resulted in William Ruto being named the winner as a tragicomedy.

He claims that the azimio la Umoja coalition leader, who was running for president of the country for the fifth time with Martha Karua, the leader of the Narc-Kenya party, as his running mate, lost the election because his campaign team, which included poll workers and command centre staff, lacked a proper organisation and strategy.

According to Kanchory, elections in Kenya are not won or lost; instead, they are taken. Baba distributed it. He did win, but he lost it. For those who are willing to participate, there are presidential elections. In the past nearly 20 years, Kenya has had no successful elections; all of them have been stolen.

Dr Ruto received 7,176,141 votes, or 50.49 per cent of the votes cast, and was thus declared the victor of the presidential election by the (IEBC) Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Chairperson Wafula Chebukati in 2022

With 6,942,930 votes or 48.85% of the total votes cast, Odinga placed second.

The former Prime Minister challenged the results and filed a case with the Supreme Court, but the high court dismissed Odinga's appeal for lack of proof, causing the 56-year-old former Deputy President to take the oath of office on September 13.

Kanchory claims the Azimio system believed they were the polls' presumptive winners. He charges Karua and Odinga with ignoring the finer points of the presidential campaign and allowing the disjointed team to handle things.
