Due to their investment in developing a good squad following the purchase of Kenyan international Abud Omar, attacker Derrick Otanga, and goalkeeper Patrick Matasi, Kenya Police FC has since been mocked as "Police Saint Germain".

Police have been assembling a "super squad" to help them compete for their first Premier League championship, and the onus is now on them to use the power of their team to win titles.

Police's squad is one of the strongest this season thanks to the midseason signing of the three, and they now intend to make a serious challenge.

Tusker first turned down offers for their number one player, but with three months left on his deal, they reached an understanding for a transfer for an unknown amount.

Due to Matasi's experience, Job Ochieng, the Police's top player since last season, now faces competition for the starting position.

The team that travelled to Bungoma picked the goalkeeper to play Nzoia Sugar in what might be a significant match because the two sides on first place in the standings.

Police are fourth on goal differential, but both teams have 34 points. They will move up to second position if they win and Tusker FC and KCB both lose.

Nzoia, who started the season strong, has slowed down in recent games, winning only one and going winless in their last four. They had three draws but fell to Bandari last weekend when travelling to the Coast.

Contrarily, Police have won three of their previous five games while drawing one and lost 2-1 to Gor Mahia, the league's top team.

In the meantime, second-placed KCB takes on first-place Gor in a top-of-the-table matchup on Friday.

In other games on Thursday, surging Mathare United will play Bandari FC at the Kasarani Annex in the early game to keep winning.

Since February, The Slum Boys have had a comeback, and they have won three of their last five games to lift themselves out of the relegation zone.

They will be confident going into Thursday's game because they have two victories over titans Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards.

Kakamega Homeboyz will face Sofapaka in the late kickoff.

Thursday's FKF Premier League schedule:

AFC Leopards vs. Posta Rangers at Nyayo National Stadium; Ulinzi Stars vs. Tusker FC at Ulinzi Sports Complex; Vihiga United vs. Kariobangi Sharks at Mumias; Wazito vs. Nairobi City Stars at Muhoroni; Nzoia Sugar vs. Kenya Police FC at Kasarani Annex; Mathare United vs. Bandari at 1pm; Bandari (Sudi Stadium, Bungoma).
