Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese superstar, stated Wednesday that he wants to go "even further" after becoming the first player in history to record 850 career goals with Saudi club Al-Nassr.

"I want more," the forward said before training with the national team in Oeiras, on the outskirts of Lisbon, ahead of the forthcoming European Championship qualifiers.

"As long as I play, I want to set the bar very high, so I have to think big," the 38-year-old stated.

Last June, Ronaldo earned his 200th international cap by scoring the only goal in Portugal's 1-0 victory over Iceland, which kept the Selecao atop Group J in Euro 2024 qualifying.

The 2016 European champions will face Slovakia in Bratislava on Friday and Luxembourg three days later at the Algarve stadium in southern Portugal.

"I'm desperate to win these two matches." "If we win, we'll almost certainly qualify," the five-time Ballon d'Or winner stated.

When asked about his rivalry with Lionel Messi of Argentina, Ronaldo said the two "respected each other" and that they "changed the history of football."

Ronaldo said he was "proud" of his "longevity" in the national team as he celebrated his 20th anniversary.

"I want to continue because I feel good and useful," he added, adding that for the time being, he wanted to "enjoy the moment" and set himself the aim of "having an excellent Euro."
