Britam Insurance Company scooped the general insurance and life insurance company of the year awards at the Association of Kenya Insurance (AKI) held over the weekend.

The insurer emerged at the top for boosting the highest number of agents and aggregate points in all categories.

Meanwhile, Fidelity Shield Insurance Company was recognized as the company that made the best use of the Integrated Motor Insurance Database System (IMIDS) in 2022.

The prize is given to the business with the highest number of system users, the best underwriting and claims data, and the greatest system savings.

While Equity Life Assurance won the innovation award for the group life insurance sector, Pioneer Assurance won it for the individual life insurance sector.

It is awarded to the business that had brand-new, cutting-edge items and means of distribution throughout the competition year.

AKI Chairman James Oyugi said. Noted that there are 18 female CEOs leading both insurance and reinsurance companies.

“This is a 30% representation. This signifies good progress, but I know we can do better,” he said.

 Further, he reiterated that having women on the decision-making table helps an organization make wholesome decisions and strategies because they have full representation of the population.

 783 insurance sales agents met the qualifying criteria in 2022, compared to 349 in 2021.

Caroline Karanja from Old Mutual won the 2022 General Insurance Agent of the Year Award after selling 75 policies worth Kes4.3 million.

Position two went to Elvis Agesa of Madison Insurance, while Kennedy Oyaya of Old Mutual took position three.

Life Insurance Agent of the Year-New Business Award 2022 went to Ruth Mumbe Nyingi of Britam, who sold 154 policies valued at Kes33.8 million.
