Mombasa residents residing in Ziwani, Tudor, Makupa, Tononoka, Kibokoni, and Ganjoni can now order food on Bolt.

This is after the online food delivery platform launched its services in Mombasa, allowing locals to order food from restaurants.

The expansion comes after the Estonian-based company recently announced investment and expansion plans in the country.

Bolt Food Country Manager Edgar Kitur said the company will roll out the services to nearby areas in the coming weeks.

“Mombasa remains an integral market for us, and we look forward to offering our clients affordable, convenient, and quality services. We are also happy to economically empower the youth in Mombasa by offering employment opportunities to them through the gig economy,” Kitur added.

After Nairobi in 2021, Mombasa becomes the second city where Bolt expanded.

The coastal city offers various African cuisine, fast food options, continental fare, seafood platters, and Swahili dishes.

KFC, Chicken Inn, Galito's, Java House, Adams Barbeque, Crave Mombasa, Snack Attack Restaurant, Milia Gardens, and Damascus Shawarma are well-known franchises there.

Further, Kitur noted that they have onboarded over 300 couriers in Mombasa on our platform, thus helping them make a decent living.

“We shall continue to work with other couriers and restaurants to create job opportunities for the coastal region ”, he added.

By 2027, there will be 79.51 million users on the platform for consumer delivery, according to data from Statista, demonstrating the ongoing rise of online food delivery services.

More than 4000 couriers in Nairobi and its city have employment chances with Bolt Food, which currently has over 1500 restaurants on its network.

It intends to spread to other towns and cities throughout Kenya.
