Huawei has launched Wi-Fi 7 in East Africa to revolutionize office and home internet connectivity and meet the increasing customer demand.

The latest Wi-Fi technology has a set of new protocols that brings to the market the fastest possible internet with speeds of up 500Mps for each device and a combined speed of up to 30 Gigabits per second per router.

Huawei Chief Technology Officer for Southern Africa, Matamela Mashau stated that the innovation was driven by consumer demand for faster download and upload speeds and the need to connect multiple devices to the Internet.

Speaking when he officially launched the service in Nairobi, he said Wi-Fi 7 effectively doubles the number of devices that can effectively work with high-speed internet access, ensuring that a home or an office can comfortably accommodate up to 120 smart television sets, computers and smartphones at any one time.

Further, Mashau said that Huawei’s local channel partners will be responsible for the last-mile availability of the new solution to customers.

The requirement for personnel to be constantly connected, regardless of their location, has led to organisations switching from wired to wireless connectivity, according to Mashau.

He continued, "At the same time, businesses are sending and receiving enormous files, some of which are bulky films or multimedia presentations."

“Facing such high requirements, the current Wi-Fi 6 standard is insufficient to improve the user experience in high-density scenarios. That is the reason we have launched Wi-Fi 7 to solve this challenge”, he noted.

Wi-Fi 7 has lower latency, increased network capacity, highly boosted efficiency and offers previously unattainable data rates.
