The late Sharon Otieno wanted recognition as the wife of former Migori Governor Okoth Obado and insisted on living the lifestyle of a governor's wife.

During a pre-trial hearing on Tuesday, a witness said that Sharon sought a rental house worth between Ksh.20 and Ksh.25 million in Nairobi or Kisumu. She also sought a nice car as the Governor's wife and Ksh.5 million in monthly maintenance.

Sharon Otieno wanted Ksh.200,000 for her prenatal care, claiming that her status had changed and needed to be seen in Nairobi. The witness said Sharon opposed any suggestions that she should go to a county hospital, saying she is the governor's wife and therefore needed special treatment.

Lawrence Mule, the witness and a former MCA, acted as a go-between for Sharon and Obado. Mule testified that the former Migori chief did not deny having a relationship with Sharon and that Obado only complained about the deceased's expensive lifestyle.

Mule claimed that the governor agreed to build Sharon a house costing Ksh.3-4 million and furnish it. Sharon consented to the deal.

Mule stated that they once met Oyamo with Sharon, and she was given 200,000 shillings for her prenatal treatment, but after some time, she urged him to leave the subject alone.

After meeting Obado's PA, Michael Oyamo, Sharon asked that Mule stay out of her business.
