An oil tanker accident caused a traffic snarl-up along the Busia-Kisumu highway.
According to locals, the tanker veered off the road near Matayos market in Busia County. Witnesses say the driver of the Busia-bound truck lost control of the vehicle once it arrived in the region.
Fuel spilled across the busy road moments after the tanker drove off it. Police officials and firefighters arrived, preventing residents from siphoning fuel.
The authorities warned people against siphoning fuel from overturned trucks, citing the risk of damage or death.
