Citizen TV anchor Sam Gituku has beenĀ  promoted by Royal Media Services to Editor, Quality, and Product Development in line with the company's policy of recognizing and rewarding outstanding performance. Linus Kaikai, the Editorial Director at Citizen TV, made the announcement, praising the versatile journalist for his contributions to the station's growth.

"I am delighted to announce that Sam Gituku has been promoted to Editor, Quality and Product Development in line with the company's policy of recognizing and rewarding outstanding performance in a staffer's respective role," Kaikai announced.

" For the last three years, Sam has demonstrated exceptional resourcefulness and consistency in driving some of the Group's on-air products, in a way that merits and obliges the next level roles."

His promotion comes days after he was unveiled in the News Gang to replace former Citizen TV Political Affairs Editor Francis Gachuri, who moved to the Ministry of Interior as Head of Communications.

This development follows his recent introduction to the News Gang, where he assumed the role previously held by former Citizen TV Political Affairs Editor Francis Gachuri. Gachuri has since moved to the Ministry of Interior, taking on the position of Head of Communications.

Sam Gituku has secured a promotion at Citizen TV shortly after completing his Master's Degree in Digital Journalism from The Aga Khan University.

Gituku has been elevated to the position of Editor, Quality, and Product Development at Royal Media Services (RMS).

He has been working in the media industry since 2012 when he was hired as a Radio Correspondent for Royal Media Services-owned Radio Citizen and was based in Machakos County before rising to be a morning show TV host.

Gituku's biggest break was during the 2017 General Election where he was picked as the lead reporter. He was risen to be among the most trusted journalists who have interviewed some notable faces in Kenyan politics including President William Ruto and Azimio Leader Raila Odinga.

Besides Gituku, Kaikai also promoted Philip Mwaniki to the position of Senior Editor - Digital.

" Together with the hard-working team at Digital, Philip has demonstrated leadership and initiative in keeping our platforms ahead of the pack in a highly competitive space."

The promotions come amidst reports of some reporters planning to exit the station among them Chemutain Goin and Hassan Mugambi.

However, Citizen TV has not corroborated the reports of the exits.
