A 33-year-old man has committed suicide outside the rented house of his lover.

According to region assistant chief John Tanui, the body was discovered hanging from the verandah roof.

Tanui stated that the dead has been identified as Bernard Langat, a Junior Secondary School (JSS) teacher at one of the schools in Trans Mara, Narok County.

According to a source, the deceased paid a visit to his girlfriend, who is a student at Bomet Central TTI and lives in a rented property away from the institution.

"We were told he had been around for some days with his girlfriend who is pursuing her studies here at the college. It seems he didn't spend his night with his lover for unknown reasons last night. His girlfriend, commonly known as Sharon, was the first to break the sad news," added the chief.

In an unsubstantiated Facebook post attributed to the deceased, he discussed his love life and indicated a decision to end his life. He praised his family for supporting his studies and had pleasant times with his pupils.

Police officials from the Silibwet police station responded to the incident and transported the deceased to the Longisa hospital mortuary.
