The hearing for IEBC commissioner irene masit over her conduct during the 2022 general elections has ended after both parties made their final submissions.
The committee led by justice Mchelule was hearing the IEBCa case that seeks to dismiss irene masit from the commission. The committee will now retreat and make recommendations on the officer's fate to president William ruto.
In his final speech of the hearing, justice mchelule said that the councils of the two defendants have done their jobs and will not be needed anymore and wished them well in their future endeavours and that they will give their recommendations to the person who formed the committee.

The four former IEBC commissioners voted against the election of President William Ruto, calling the results of the presidential election ambiguous. The commissioners did not want Wafula chebukati to declare Ruto the winner.
The three other commissioners have since resigned but maintain that they did nothing wrong and carried out their duties as IEBC commissioners per the law. Chebukati concluded his tenure as IEBC chair by stating that he ran the commission with integrity. And it was his most credible election ever.
During the previous hearing, the committee summoned the former IEBC chair, who stated that top government officials tried to persuade him to change the election results in favour of Azimio leader Raila Odinga or force a rerun, or the country would fall into chaos.
The Azimio leader, on the other hand, has come out swinging, accusing the former IEBC chair of conspiring with the current regime to steal the elections. Raila Odinga claims he won the election by more than 2 million votes but that the results were tampered with in favour of Ruto.
