Raila Odinga, the head of Azimio La Umoja, has urged widespread protests within 14 days if the government does not lower the high taxes on goods.

Odinga stated that a plan to "restore back authority to the people as enshrined in the constitution" will include mass action.

Speaking at a prayer rally on Wednesday at Jeevanje Gardens, the former prime minister attacked President William Ruto and his administration for holding prayers, calling it a hypocritical act and alleging that Kenyans are struggling to pay for a high standard of life.

Even though they attend church every Sunday, these people are the sinners, continued Odinga.

Many members of the Azimio coalition surrounded Odinga.

He also said that the State had harassed former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and his attorney Danstan Omari continuously and urged them to stop.

Omari has asked to appear before the DCI, where they claim they want to look into him. The person is a lawyer; let him be free to carry out his duties, added Odinga.
