On Saturday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, hiked across Mount Kenya Forest.

On their way, the DP and Pastor Dorcas spoke with citizens of the Kieni Constituency.

Gachagua claimed in a statement that they made time to commune with nature.

Pastor Dorcas and I went a stroll through the great Mt Kenya Forest early this morning to get in sink with Mother Nature and appreciate God's creation, he said.

The DP said they hiked through Hombe Forest in Mathira Constituency for 18 kilometres before entering Kabaru Forest in Kieni Constituency.

The roar of the River Sagana was calming to our souls, and we thank God for the showers because they preserved our heritage's greenery.

The farmers and animal keepers we encountered were joyful and grateful to the Lord for the rainfall.

He claimed he is troubled by President William Ruto's accountability for the nation's economic liberation.

Gachagua travelled a short distance to see his aunt Gladys Gathoni on Friday.

He was with his wife Dorcas in the early hours of Friday morning.

He ran into some of his childhood friends from the village along the way; some were going about their daily tasks.
