Two Kisumu County Assembly members risk losing their seats after failing to attend more than eight consecutive plenary sessions.

Elisha Oraro, the County Assembly Speaker, has written to Masogo Nyangoma and MCA Habil Nyasuna and Nominated MCA Kennedy Ajwang, asking them to show cause as to why they should not lose their seats.

The Speaker claimed in the letter that the duo had been away from the Assembly without the appropriate written permission.

The MCAs have been given until June 1 to show why their seats should be kept from being declared vacant under Article 194 (1) 6 of the Kenyan Constitution.

In a letter dated May 24, 2023, the Speaker requests that the MCAs provide a good reason for their absence or risk losing their seats.

The Kisumu County Assembly meets three times a week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, for ordinary plenary sessions during which House business is performed.
