The United democratic alliance has distanced itself from sentiments made by Samson cherargei, who is proposing that the presidential term limit be increased from five years to seven years.
In a statement by the party secretary general Cleophas Malala on X, formerly known as Twitter, he said the party does not echo the same sentiments as those of Nandi county senator samson cherargei.
"UDA Party does not support the proposals emanating from the bi-partisan talks to increase the presidential term limit from 5year to 7year term."

"The UDA Party respects and upholds the Senator's personal views but particularly on the referenced subject, those views do not reflect the perspectives of the UDA Party and its Party Leader, H.E. President William Ruto. The President solemnly swore to respect, uphold and defend the Constitution which is abundantly clear and categorial on the Presidential term limit," the statement read.

He said that the UDA party is committed to fulfilling its promises to kenyans during the campaign period and that it shall submit its scorecard for the people to evaluate in due course.
According to Cherargei's proposal, a five-year term is not enough time for the president to fulfill his/her promises.
Cherargei also wants the negotiations team to establish the Office of the Prime Minister, who will sit in parliament and serve as the government's official spokesman in the house.
