Azimio la Umoja, the leader of one of the Kenyan coalition parties, Raila Odinga, has eased concerns that the coalition is breaking up.

Raila declared during a speech on Monday at the commissioning of a water project in Manda Primary School, Lamu County, that the coalition would not waver in its commitment to fighting for Kenya's independence.

"There is no danger that Azimio will collapse anytime soon; nobody has left Azimio. It has remained intact apart from a few members of parliament who have decided to take a walk," said Raila.


"The leadership of Azimio is intact; there is no dissension anywhere in Azimio, and that is why we are taken aback."

The prime minister also accused the media of "irresponsible journalism" about reports claiming the coalition is near collapse.

"You see a banner headline in a very senior media in the country. This is irresponsible journalism that must be discarded. We don't want the media to spread despondency among members of Azimio," added Raila.

"We have stood firm, Azimio is on a course of liberation in this country from tyranny and irresponsibility."


This is happening against rumors that a coalition breakup is imminent because a few coalition members have declared their intention to run for president in the general election of 2027.

Leaders of the Wiper party Kalonzo Musyoka and the DAP-K Eugene Wamalwa are among them.
