Recent speculation has focused on the relationship between President William Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua. This follows a period of silence from Deputy President Gachagua, who reappeared on Sunday at a church service in Endarasha, Nyeri County. Later that evening, Gachagua was seen bidding farewell to President Ruto as he departed for a state visit to the United States.
Former Kiambu speaker Stephen Ndichu made some remarks about the relationship between President Ruto and DP Rigathi Gachagua during the morning Day Break show at Citizen TV with Journalist Sam Gituku.
He mentioned that the deputy president was being sidelined by the president. Ndichu explained that during the recent tree planting day, Gachagua was supposed to travel to Bomet on a military chopper. However, he was denied access to the chopper and was informed that politicians were not permitted to use military aircraft.
"President Ruto is sidelining DP Gachagua. During National Planting Tree Day, DP Gachagua was to plant trees in Bomet and asked for a military chopper but the feedback he got was, 'powers from above' have stated that politicians should not use military choppers," Ndichu revealed.
On the Limuru III meeting held last Friday, he opined that the gathering was an event planned by the opposition in Mt Kenya who are blaming the Kenya Kwanza administration of ignoring the region.
