The anticipation for the upcoming Champions League semi-final between AC Milan and Inter Milan has risen to new heights. Italian newspaper La Repubblica states that two million tickets for the first leg on Wednesday have been sought.

According to the Italian publication, ticket demand was so high that the San Siro stadium could have been filled 26 times over.

In comparison, Milan has a population of approximately 1.3 million people.


The forthcoming match between Milan and Inter will be their fifth meeting in European play, with Milan going unbeaten in their previous four meetings.

The return leg is scheduled for May 16.
