Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) clinched their second consecutive Ligue 1 title and their ninth in the last 11 seasons with a 2-1 victory over Auxerre on Sunday. The match saw Kylian Mbappe shine, scoring both goals for PSG in the first eight minutes at the Stade Abbe-Deschamps.

Mbappe's brace took his tally to 28 goals in Ligue 1 this season, contributing significantly to PSG's success. Although Auxerre managed to pull one back through Lassine Sinayoko early in the second half, Paris held on to secure the crucial win.

With a six-point lead over second-placed Lens and only two games left to play, PSG now only need a draw in their upcoming away match against Strasbourg to officially become champions for a record 11th time in French football history.

Despite being tied on points with their rivals Lens, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is on the verge of securing the Ligue 1 title due to their superior goal difference of 16.

Kylian Mbappe kicked off the scoring in impressive fashion, receiving a precise pass from Fabian Ruiz and skillfully maneuvering past defender Gauthier Hein before firing a powerful shot into the top of the net.

Just two minutes later, PSG extended their lead to 2-0. Hugo Ekitike cleverly left a pass from Lionel Messi for Mbappe, who unleashed a fierce strike from outside the box.

In the closing stages of the first half, Rayan Raveloson came close to scoring for the home team as his shot hit the crossbar. However, it was in the 51st minute that Auxerre managed to reduce the deficit. Nuno da Costa's headed pass from a long clearance set up Sinayoko, who ran through and found the back of the net.

Christophe Galtier's PSG side had hoped to celebrate their league victory on Sunday. However, Lens' 3-1 win against Lorient earlier in the day meant that regardless of PSG's result in Auxerre, they would have to wait at least another week to secure the title.

The outcome of the match left Auxerre still holding on to a one-point and one-place advantage above the relegation zone, with two remaining matches in the season.
