Across the nation, the government is building treatment and rehabilitation centers.

Suppressing demand, treatment, rehabilitation, and reintegration of people with an addiction are the goals of the centers.

Prof. Kithure Kindiki, the Interior Cabinet Secretary, stated that the National Government will collaborate with County Governments to guarantee that every 47 Counties has a Rehabilitation Center that provides reasonably priced, publicly funded services to individuals undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.

The CS stated that total suppression of supply and demand is a necessary component of the war on illegal alcohol, narcotic drugs, and psychotropic substances.

While giving a speech in Mombasa, he visited the Miritini Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center and identified the short-term and urgent needs to hasten the facility's completion.

"To suppress demand, treatment, rehabilitation, and reintegration of addicts remains a key objective of the Government." Prof. Kindiki said.

After completion, the Miritini facility cost Ksh 1.3 billion, of which Ksh 166 million has been paid.

Treatment, rehabilitation, and reintegration programs will be offered, as will technical skill training in masonry, tailoring, and engineering for recovered patients and startup funding for small businesses tailored to their skill set.

The NACADA Chairman presents were Mombasa County Security and Intelligence Heads, Reverend Stephen Mairori, CEO Dr. Anthony Omerikwa, and staff.
